About Coach Sharper
Charles Sharper is a passionate visionary dedicated to transforming the lives of children and their families. From his beginnings as an elementary school teacher, athletic coach, and youth motivator, he has committed himself to empowering the next generation.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, and given up for adoption alongside his twin sister, Coach Sharper faced significant challenges early in life, including learning to read at the age of nine.
Yet, it was during his time in foster care that he ignited a powerful passion for advocating for literacy and nutrition, shaping his mission to uplift young lives.
With a degree in Secondary Education from Owens Community College and a bachelor’s degree in marketing & communications and valuable experience as a player on the Eastern Michigan University Men’s Basketball Team, Charles Sharper’s journey is marked by resilience and determination.
He further honed his leadership skills as part of the coaching staff and Graduate student at Hampton University, where he played a crucial role in leading the team to a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship and a stunning upset over Iowa State University in the NCAA tournament.
Driven by a profound desire to create lasting change, Charles Sharper returned to elementary education to fulfill his dream of being an asset to his community.

As the Executive Director of The Healthy Youth USA Foundation, he has inspired thousands of children through his innovative after-school programs, positively impacting over 2000 lives and paving the way for many to pursue higher education.
